Biggest Accomplishment
I am currently in my second year of debate at UCLA. So far this year I have reached the semifinal round in parliamentary debate at the APU Cougar Classic. Last year, I was an octafinalist at the Sunset Cliffs invitational and a double octafinalist at NPDA Nationals. I also do NFA-LD debate on the side - I've cleared at most tournaments I've competed at. In high school, I was a policy debater, qualifying to and competing at NFL Nationals, CHSSA (California) State, and NCFL Grand Nationals. I cleared to elimination rounds at numerous local and regional tournaments. I'm also key to hegemony.
For those of you who aren't familiar with me, my name is Nick Matthews. Feel free to add me on Facebook: At the moment, I am a second-year undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles, where I am pursuing a degrees in political science and history. I am also a relatively successful member of the UCLA debate team, competing in both parliamentary and NFA-LD debate. As a high school debater, I competed in policy debate for four years at CK McClatchy High School in Sacramento, CA. I competed locally my first couple of years and then started competing on the circuit later on. As a senior I was named team captain, although this was by default since I was the only upperclassman on the team. As a consequence, winning tournaments took a back seat to the task of mentoring novice and JV debaters. If you have any questions about debate in general, feel free to ask me and I would be happy to assist you with your needs. - Nick
