Funniest thing a judge ever wrote?

So,after hundreds of rounds and more than a thousand ballots, I myself have had some of the most interesting comments from judges. One judge once told me "Great speech, but your tie doesn't match" The worst part was not only did my tie actually match, there was a sacrificial lamb in the round when I got last...the judge was obviously out to get me. Let's hear your best comments.

Hey guys!

Hey guys, I'm Brian and although there are many things which define me, I have always had quite the love for Forensics. Oratory has always been my thing. I enjoy it above the other categories, but have respect for all competitors who drive to succeed regardless of the event, topic, or style.

The role of the team captain

Perhaps one of the highest positions of honor is being selected as team captain. I had the good fortune of earning this title my senior year in high school and with it came a good deal of responsibility. Like any thing else in life, you can either treat it as if its nothing or you can rise to the occasion and make the most of the situation.

Standing Out in Dramatic Interpretation

Like most forensics categories, Dramatic Interp tends to have characteristics that are quite unique. It is drama at its best and those who succeed are able to captivate and audience through a theatrical performance that comes to life. With so many competitors and only so many pieces to choose from, how does one set themselves apart in such a category?

The G-20 Debates

Living in Pittsburgh, the greatest city in the world, I have gotten the privilege of seeing the G20 debates and protests up close. I was with the Greenpeace, save Tibet, and legalize marijuana protests over the past few days and learned some important things. First and foremost, I cant believe the things which bring people together.

overused examples

So the new year is here and first order of business is...addressing the overused topics that shouldnt be used at all. Whether you are debating or speaking or giving a Congress speech, stay away from these easy topics and everything else will work much more favorably for you.

Top Topics to Avoid?

Are you mentally tough enough?

Its mid-september and the season is about to begin. In the midst of speech writing, debate prep, cutting, performing and practice, it is important to keep in mind that the battle each year is won on the mental front even more so than on performance side of the equation. So many competitors get caught up in the moment that they forget the big picture.

Time Management for Impromptu

Although there is very little prep work outside of tournaments and very little you can/need to study up on, there may be nothing more stressful than the ten minutes you have during an impromptu round. When you first see your three topics, your mind starts to race and you start to contemplate whether or not you have a chance to succeed with each given topic.

Picking a topic

Picking a topic, in my opinion, is one of the toughest parts of the speech year. With your decision comes the realization that you are stuck with whatever you pick. So, with that in mind, you must consider a few areas which will help you to arrive at the best choice for you.
